Bye, bye SportingNews

Vom Prinzip her ist es mir eigentlich egal, wo ich Fantasy Baseball spielen kann, Hauptsache es läuft stabil, ist kostenlos und ich habe Spaß. Dennoch hatte es mir Fantasy Baseball bei SportingNews.com besonders angetan. Ich hatte dort mit dem Spielen begonnen und seit einigen Jahren die Salary Cap Challenge „German Baseball Fans“ laufen.

Doch damit ist nun Schluss. Schon seit Wochen gab es Gerüchte, dass es in diesem Jahr kein Fantasy Baseball bei SportingNews geben würde. Am letzten Wochenende folgte die Bestätigung:

The fantasy industry is changing, and we feel it's best to devote our resources to providing the best fantasy content and advice on the internet, and beyond. We believe SportingNews.com's fantasy content, tools and advice are already best in class, and over the next few months, we will completely redesign the Fantasy Source section of our site to deliver a new and improved user experience. With this shift in strategy, we will dedicate our entire fantasy staff to building Fantasy Source into the number one destination for fantasy information, accessible via internet, mobile devices, and other new technologies.

Damit ist die kleine Tradition der “German Baseball Fans” auch zu Ende. Sehr, sehr schade. Ich werde in den nächsten Wochen noch einmal schauen, ob ich die Rankings der letzten Jahre noch finde und ein All-Time-Ranking zusammenaddiere.
